Ways To Go

We're undertaking a travel survey to help us guide changes to the ways patients, staff and visitors get to and from Waikato Hospital and the Waiora CBD building on Alexandra Street in Hamilton.

The 'Ways To Go' Haerenga Pai feedback process aims to get an accurate picture of what people think about their current transport options, their experiences and to gather ideas on how to make things better for everyone.

Feedback will be sought via surveys and focus groups.

Visitor guidelines and tips

There is still a heightened risk to vulnerable people in hospital and we ask you to respect our guides for safety and care of our patients and staff.

No smoking or vaping

We have a no smoking, no vaping policy that applies to all patients, visitors and staff. Whether you are coming to us for a clinic appointment or a hospital stay, you must not smoke or vape anywhere inside our buildings or on our grounds.

It is routine for our staff to ask all patients if they smoke and to offer you options to help you be smokefree during your stay. If you let us know, we can provide clean nicotine products on the wards (e.g. patches, lozenges or gum).

What happens when you come to Mothercraft?

Waikato Hospital antenatal and postnatal ward during COVID-19

… pregnant women or women who have just had a baby. We are working very hard to ensure the ward environment is safe for you, your baby, our staff and other patients. The layout of the ward does not enable social distancing if additional people such as visitors and support people come to the ward. To ensure women and babies are safe, we have made some changes to how things work.
