Progressive Procurement

In December 2020, Cabinet approved the progressive procurement policy aimed at increasing the diversity of Government suppliers.

Progressive procurement policy main features:

The definition of a Māori business is a Māori authority (as classified by the Inland Revenue Department) or a minimum 50% Māori ownership.

A target of 5 percent of the total number of buyer (mandated government agencies) procurement contracts are awarded to Māori businesses.

Babies admitted to NICU visitor policy during COVID-19

Babies admitted to NICU can have one parent or caregiver visit each 24 hour period. This restriction is to keep NICU babies safe. Certain circumstances will be considered on discussion with the Charge Nurse of the NICU nursery. The parent or caregiver will need to wear a mask and follow hand hygiene infection control measures.

Visitors are not allowed to the NICU nursery at this time.

What training and orientation will I receive?

patient rights
health and safety - infection control
volunteer standards and expectations
wayfinding around the hospital
privacy and confidentiality
emergency procedures - security
event/incident reporting
relevant hospital policy.
Our volunteers are also expected to attend a fire training session.

Other training opportunities come up throughout the year, these may include things like wheelchair and bed handling.
