Child Health Integrated Response Pathway (CHIRP) — Bay of Plenty

CHIRP is a team of healthcare workers in the Bay of Plenty region for tamariki (children) under 14. CHIRP helps with child development, challenging behaviours, and possible neurodiversity such as autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Services we provide

We provide a triage service for tamariki under 14 who need support with development, attention or behaviour.

We bring together experts from:

  • child development services
  • paediatrics
  • child and adolescent mental health services
  • education.

Our service is not for tamariki with learning difficulties like dyslexia or auditory processing disorder.


Referral information

Your family doctor, Plunket nurse, school, hauora provider or another healthcare provider can refer your child. Parents or guardians must consent to the referral.
There may be some waiting time for an appointment.
