Childbirth education — Bay of Plenty

Childbirth education, or antenatal classes, help you prepare for labour, birth and parenting.

Childbirth education classes

Childbirth education is also sometimes called antenatal classes, or hapū wānanga classes.

Attending childbirth education classes can help you learn more about pregnancy and how to prepare for labour, birth, and the first few weeks after your baby is born. You’ll also meet other hāpu māmā. Many people in these groups become friends during their classes and go on to have regular catch-ups.

You can take your partner, support people and whānau with you to classes.

The courses listed here are free and funded by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora. There may be a cost for other courses.
